What applies once a shipment is agreed.
Effective 7 October 2026. These terms apply to freight services quoted by Elvora Shipping L.L.C. They are separate from the website terms.
Scope and order of priority
These terms apply to services that Elvora Shipping (“Elvora”) quotes and confirms in writing. If the accepted quotation or a signed agreement differs from these terms, the quotation or agreement prevails. Carriers and other providers perform the movement under their own terms, which can bind you as well; we will give you those terms on request. Nothing here limits rights you have under applicable law that cannot be excluded.
Quotations
A website enquiry is not a quotation, a booking or a rate. A quotation is valid only for the period it states and only for the cargo, route, equipment and dates described in it. Carrier rates, surcharges, space and sailing or flight schedules can change before booking; a booking exists only when Elvora confirms it in writing.
Charges and exclusions
Quotations itemise the charges they include. Unless the quotation says otherwise, these are excluded: customs duties and taxes, inspection and examination fees, terminal and port charges not listed, storage, demurrage and detention, waiting time, re-delivery, special equipment, insurance, and charges caused by inaccurate cargo information. VAT is added where applicable. Charges are payable in the currency and within the time stated on the invoice.
Customs duties and taxes
The importer or the party named as responsible in the quotation is liable for customs duties, VAT and other government charges, including any additional assessment after release. We may ask for funds in advance before paying them on your behalf.
Demurrage, detention and storage
Carriers, terminals and depots charge demurrage, detention and storage when containers or cargo are not collected or returned within free time. Free time depends on the carrier and can be short. These charges are passed on at cost and are payable by the customer unless the delay was caused by Elvora.
Documents and declarations
You must give accurate, complete and timely information and documents: commercial invoice, packing list, origin and permit documents, cargo description, weights, dimensions and commodity classification. You are responsible for the consequences of incorrect, late or missing information, including fines, delays, inspections and re-work.
Restricted and dangerous cargo
You must tell us before booking if cargo includes dangerous goods, batteries, perishable, temperature-controlled, high-value, controlled or sanctioned items, or anything needing a permit. Carriers and authorities may refuse or hold such cargo. We may decline, suspend or cancel handling of cargo that is undeclared, unlawful or unsafe, and you bear the resulting costs.
Insurance
Cargo insurance is not included unless a quotation says so and we confirm cover in writing. Carriers’ liability is generally limited by law and by their terms and may be far below the value of the goods. We recommend that you insure cargo for its full value.
Cancellations and refunds
Tell us in writing as early as possible. Charges already incurred, and third-party charges that carriers or providers will not refund (such as booking cancellation, dead-freight, documentation and handling fees), remain payable. Any refund is of the amount that is actually recovered or unspent, as stated in the quotation.
Loss, damage and delay: claims
Inspect cargo on delivery and note any visible loss or damage on the delivery document. Notify us in writing as soon as you discover a problem, keep the cargo, packaging and photographs, and send the booking reference, bill of lading or air waybill, invoice and a description of the loss. Legal and carrier time limits for notice and for claims can be short. The deadlines that apply to your shipment are stated in the quotation and in the carrier’s terms, so act immediately. Estimated transit times are not guarantees, and we do not accept liability for delay unless the quotation expressly says so.
Liability
Elvora’s liability, if any, and any limit on it, are stated in the accepted quotation or agreement and apply to the extent permitted by law. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss unless the law or the agreement says otherwise.
Complaints and disputes
Send complaints to sales@elvorashipping.com as described in Contact & Complaints. We will acknowledge your complaint in writing and tell you who is handling it. Governing law and the competent courts for a movement are stated in the accepted quotation or agreement. This website does not itself create a contract.
